The Legend displays a list of available map layers that can be turned on/off by clicking the appropriate checkbox. When the user first enters the application, the Mapped STIP Items (points), Mapped STIP Items (lines), and State Boundary layers will be checked and therefore viewable on the map.

To select a new Legend layer, the user can simply click the desired checkbox. Some layers may not appear on the screen at the default, statewide view (image above). However, if the user zooms into the state using the zoom controls and techniques, these layers will slowly become visible. To remove these layers from the map, the checkboxes can be unchecked at any time.

If the user wishes to remove the legend from sight and make the Map Frame larger, they can use the caret tool () located at the top right of the Legend. The caret tool (now facing in the opposite direction, ) can be clicked once more to reopen the Legend.
